Welcome to the Alternative Conceptions Surrogacy Program. A woman who chooses to become a Surrogate gives the gift of helping to create a family.
We are looking for young women between 21-35, who are generous, selfless and have had positive pregnancies and birth experiences. We need women who recognize the importance of a lifestyle that is both physically and emotionally healthy, with no drug or nicotine usage or alcohol abuse. |

Once you have made the decision to become a Surrogate, you will then determine which method you would be most comfortable with to achieve this. There are two types of surrogacy-Traditional and Gestational.
Traditional Surrogacy is the method where a surrogate would utilize her own eggs and is either artificially inseminated or through In Vitro Fertilization technology, have her eggs harvested then fertilized by the prospective father's sperm, and then transferred back to her . The surrogate becomes pregnant, then carries and later gives birth to the child.
Gestational Surrogacy is the method most often utilized in our program. Using In Vitro Fertilization, eggs harvested from either the Intended Mother or an egg donor are fertilized with the prospective father's sperm, and then transferred to the uterus of the surrogate. The surrogate becomes pregnant, then carries and gives birth to the child.
After you have been selected as a candidate for our Surrogacy program, you will receive instructions on how to complete your online personal profile. This profile will be your initial presentation to the Intended Parents. The information you supply will allow them to learn about you and will assist them in making the decision of taking the next step to meet you. Fill it out with that idea in mind. In addition to the profile, we will also request photos of you and your family to complete your presentation. Once you have completed your online profile, a packet of information will be sent to you. This packet will include numerous items that we will ask you to read, sign and return to us.
Intended Parents select a surrogate who they feel is most compatible with them. Ease of communication, a similar need for involvement during pregnancy and after and similar beliefs and expectations of the process are important aspects to consider. Most relationships between surrogates and Intended Parents are open, in that full names are known and telephone numbers and addresses are exchanged.
Intended Parents fill out a personal questionnaire for surrogates to review. A surrogate has the opportunity to accept or reject the match. Her comfort level, interest and desire to work with the Intended Parents who have chosen her are of utmost importance and the surrogate decides for herself if the match is appropriate for her. If both parties are interested, then a meeting or introductory phone call is set up. Once both parties involved are satisfied, things begin to move forward.
The surrogates we accept into our program are intensively screened. A background check will be performed including your spouse or partner, if applicable, as well as a psychological evaluation. This first meeting with the psychologist creates an opportunity to establish a relationship so she can then provide support to you throughout the pregnancy.
The Intended Parent's doctor will provide a thorough medical screening. Once all aspects of the screening process have been completed and all results have been received and reviewed, you will be ready to proceed. Contracts will be signed and the medical aspects of the process will begin.
If you are a Gestational Surrogate, the egg donor or Intended Mother begins treatment for a donation cycle while you are being medically and physically prepared to receive the embryos.
In the case of a Traditional Surrogate, Artificial Insemination (AI) is performed. AI and embryo transfers are very similar and are usually not painful. Embryo transfers require the surrogate to rest in bed for two days afterwards. Surrogates having an embryo transfer will need to plan for assistance with their household duties and/or take time off from work during that time.
There are many more aspects to the process of Surrogacy in addition to those outlined above, such as financial compensation and reimbursement, health and life insurance, travel and others.
Our role is to oversee all aspects of the process and make sure our surrogates receive what they need. We are here as a conduit for communication for all parties involved and we will be aware of critical events and be present as necessity requires.
